Make Milwaukee Mine

The city of Milwaukee is a town that has a population of almost 600,000 people. Since it is such a big town there is a lot of great people, places, and things that the city has which makes it such a great town. In Milwaukee there are many great organizations, sports teams, and people that strive to make the city as best as it possibly can. The Brewers are the Major League team that is located in Milwaukee. The Brewers call Miller Park their home and it is located on the West side of I-94 and they represent what the city of Milwaukee is well known for, which is all of their breweries. There are 30 brewing companies in Milwaukee, which is why it is a big reason brewing is so popular and talked about when visiting the Milwaukee area.

Events like basketball and baseball bring a lot of revenue to the city of Milwaukee. With sporting events going on, it brings people out which helps other businesses and organizations around the city of Milwaukee. First, you have the companies that sell their products at the games like beer, pizza, food, pretzels, nachos, and other ballpark foods from local businesses and restaurant chains that get to not only promote their products but make money as well. For example, the Brewers have companies like:

- Miller

- Coors

- Toyota

- American Family Insurance

All of these companies use the Brewers to their benefit, and this helps the local businesses grow as well as charities and other organizations because of things like raffle drawings and giveaways. With that being said we now look at why Milwaukee is a great place for families to live and have resources that will not only benefit you, but your family as well. If you look at Milwaukee one of the things that you will notice about Milwaukee is that there are so many different charities, organizations, and groups that help all kinds of different individuals.

This website is a link that allows you to learn about some of the great things that are going on around the city of Milwaukee and this gives you the opportunity to donate and help out these groups which is what Milwaukee is trying to do more and more of. This is because Milwaukee has a 17.5 percent poverty rate. Since the poverty rate is so high, these organizations are looking for help from all sorts of people that can give just a little support.

As you can see from the graph above this was a study done five years ago and what was found was that back in 2007, we had a recession that resulted in a raise in poverty over the past couple of years. Since, this graph though we have lowered the overall rate in Wisconsin and it is because of the organizations and charities that have been created in Milwaukee, that have helped these numbers adjust back to normal.

Milwaukee is becoming much a better city and it’s nice to see because of all the great things that it offers. Many people love Milwaukee because of events like Summerfest and the Wisconsin State Festival that takes place over the summer. Events like these brings lots of tourism and gives businesses many opportunities to profit. Every year over 900,000 people attend the events and there are over 1,000 performances. This brings more people into the city than the entire population of Milwaukee.

With all that goes on in the city today, we realize how far the city has come and how much farther it has to go. Milwaukee still has many things it lacks including drug related deaths as well as gun related deaths. This is a problem throughout all of Wisconsin and it is something that has been evaluated and has also led to many more organizations being created. The reason that this is being brought up is because many families see this and generally don’t want to have their families in these areas because it is too dangerous and at times it doesn’t feel safe. Every night on the local news, you always seem to hear of a death that occurred because of drug overdose or gun shooting. Many believe that if these types of issues get resolved, the city of Milwaukee may grow in population, have a lower poverty rate, and most importantly people will feel safer and enjoy the city of Milwaukee.
